Hjedding Andelsmejeri

Visit Denmark's first co-operative dairy in Hjedding. Here you can experience the premises and machinery that helped revolutionise Danish dairy farming.

Denmark's first cooperative dairy was inaugurated on 10 June 1882. The design of the dairy's statutes became the foundation for many other co-operative enterprises, and the farmers' idea had far-reaching consequences for Danish agriculture. The dairy appears as it was when it was first used and shows in all its simplicity how the small, original Maglekilde centrifuge and the butter churn, both powered by the steam engine, revolutionised Danish dairy farming.

Admission to the museum is free. At the entrance you will find a sign with a phone number.
