Museum of Copenhagen

Only 700 metres from Copenhagen Central Station, you will find Museum of Copenhagen, housed in one of the beautiful mansions from the 1700's in the Vesterbro area.

Through a variety of thematic exhibitions you can dive into the last 300 years of the Danish capital's history and experience exhibitions about Copenhagen's diverse cultures and metropolitan development and conflicts.

The museum is home to an exhibition about the famous Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. It shows the life of Kierkegaard through eight love themes. The themes are also interpreted by the Copenhageners themselves who have made donations to the exhibition.

The top floor houses a children’s exhibition The dream of a city, where children can build their own dream city, using thousands of LEGO bricks.

Becoming a Copenhager tells about migration to the city and explores what it means to be a Copenhagener. In The past beneath us you find a number of finds, mostly from the big archaeological excavations in relation to the building of the coming Metro ring.

Do not miss THE WALL. It is a 12-metre-long interactive multi-touch screen that, through thousands of pictures, displays the lives and stories of the Copenhageners.

In 2015, THE WALL is placed at Den Røde Plads square in the city's Nørrebro area. You can participate in the storytelling and tell about your experiences in Copenhagen by uploading your photos of the city to THE WALL.

If you want to experience the city's ancient streets on foot, you can join one of the museum's free summer walks. Friday means free entrance to Museum of Copenhagen.
